On Sunday, August 9th, I purchased a large job lot of old CDs and tapes from a gentleman clearing out a loft space. Assuming they were nothing more than blank discarded home recordings, I brought the box home to test with my old Panasonic NV-GS200 video camera.
I selected a cassette at random, housed in an unmarked, battered cardboard sleeve. What I discovered recorded on that tape has completely turned my quiet retirement upside down. Join me as I document, digitise, and share the mysteries found within this collection.

The videos are dated 2005, it is under 30 seconds long, and the things on it are horrific. The tape itself is in terrible shape and took four attempts to rewind without jamming. More disturbingly, it is full of strange artifacts and sudden clips cutting through. It looks exactly like someone intentionally tried to record over it to destroy the evidence.
I got this onto the computer by hooking my old Panasonic NV-GS200 camcorder up to my laptop using a FireWire cable and a USB capture card. I used a program called WinDV to record the playback directly onto the screen. The tape kept jamming, so I had to manually unjam the mechanism four times just to get it to rewind. Once it finally played through, I saved it as a digital MP4 file to upload here.
